Dance at Dusk returns as a free annual outdoor series at the heart of cont·act Dance Festival 2026, bringing movement into the changing rhythms of the evening city. Performed by T.H.E Second Company and open to audiences of all ages, it centres a new generation of local choreographic voices this year. For the first time, the programme features newly created works by Jieying Nah and Kwek Yixuan, Singapore-based choreographers connected to T.H.E through past collaborations and shared histories. Each approaches the stage as a space for exploring how bodies are drawn together and separated. In 𝘈𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵, 𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯, 𝘛𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳, Yixuan guides an ensemble through states of waiting, meeting, and return, tracing the subtle forces that gather groups together and release them. In 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘰𝘯 𝘎𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥, Jieying considers togetherness as something continually negotiated, where individuality, pause, and misalignment remain present within care. Every performance is hosted by an emcee and supported by Singapore Sign Language interpretation. Set against the Marina Bay skyline, Dance at Dusk offers an invitation to pause, watch, and spend time with dance.

T.H.E Second Company
T.H.E Second Company was founded in 2008 alongside T.H.E Dance Company, with the aim of identifying and nurturing aspiring dance artists towards a semi-professional standard in contemporary dance. Over the years, T.H.E Second Company has expanded its reach, offering opportunities to individuals with a demonstrated aptitude for dance, including serious dance hobbyists and emerging choreographers.
The company offers a distinctive training programme that is typically reserved for professional dance artists. Members undergo rigorous technique training under the guidance of T.H.E’s core artistic team and guest artists, building a solid physical and artistic foundation necessary to meet the demands of a semi-professional contemporary dance journey. Additionally, members receive critical feedback on both their performances and choreographic creations, cultivating not only artistic growth, but also the resilience needed to navigate the evolving demands of the professional dance world.
T.H.E Second Company’s intensive yet flexible structure allows members to deepen their practice while balancing educational, professional, and personal commitments. Equally vital are the diverse opportunities for public performances, encouraging members to make the most of their training and aim for recognised standards of artistic excellence.
Locally, T.H.E Second Company has performed at cont·act Dance Festival, liTHE (previously Emerging Choreographers), NUS Arts Festival, and Singapore Writers Festival. The company has also received invitations to perform in notable commissioned platforms such as Singapore: Inside Out, the SG50 celebrations, the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre’s inaugural Cultural Extravaganza 2017, and Together We Rise, a film project commissioned by the Singapore Tourism Board and National Arts Council in 2022. Beyond Singapore, T.H.E Second Company has also performed at Seoul International Dance Festival, in addition to joining T.H.E Dance Company on various international tours.
